Description


From Concord we ride to the Cooks River cycle path and follow it to Tempe, through Kyeemagh the along the foreshore of Botany Bay on the shared path to the cafe on the promenade at Brighton. Mostly flat terrain, with a gentle uphill on the return. The ride is graded easy/medium and the intention is to stay on the road as much as possible. The total distance is around 45 km with an expected average speed of 18 km/h.  We expect to set a pace in the low 20’s km/h where conditions allow.

 

This ride will be restricted to a maximum of 12 people (including the ride leader).  All riders must be fully vaccinated and you will be asked to present proof of meeting these requirements prior to the ride start.  You will be required to carry the proof of vaccination and carry a mask with you on the ride as well.

 

Please advise me by return mail if you would like to join the ride. An email announcement will be made once the ride is full. 

  • Physical distancing of 1.5 metres must be maintained at all times (at the ride briefing, while riding, when stopped at traffic lights, at regroups and at any coffee stop)
  • Riders must not attend if sick, have cold or flu or flu-like symptoms, etc.
  • Pre-registration is compulsory - a roll call will be taken by the ride leader and participants ticked off - no signatures or pen sharing.
  • All riders are encouraged to bring with them a small size hand sanitizer (ride leaders will have their usual first aid kit).
  • No clearing of nasal/ respiratory secretions while riding, bring your own tissue.
  • Coffee stop will be optional, or ideally will be located in an outdoor area or a park near to the coffee shop.
  • Registration for and participation in a BayBUG ride includes providing verbal consent for contact details from the ride log to be provided to NSW public health officers undertaking contact tracing if a person on the ride later tests positive for COVID-19.
  • All riders are required to periodically refer to the NSW Health latest updatesfor areas nominated for increased testing and should not join a ride if they are required to test and have not yet received a negative result.

 

Bring:

Helmet, water bottle, spare tube and pump, proof of vaccination status and a mask!

Disclaimer

By participating in the cycling activities provided by the organising Bicycle NSW Affiliated Bicycle User Group, you agree:

  • to obey all Australian and NSW road rules;
  • that your bicycle and equipment is in good mechanical order.
  • to comply with all directions given to you by Bicycle NSW employees or agents of the organising Bicycle User Group;
  • to take full and sole responsibility for any person under the age of 18 years who accompanies you in these cycling activities;
  • that you participate at your own risk; that the agreement for services provided to you by the organising Bicycle User Group does not include any implied or express warranty that the services of the organising Bicycle User Group will be rendered with due care and skill or that any materials provided by the organising Bicycle User Group in connection with the cycling activities will be fit for the purpose for which they are supplied;
  • that the organising Bicycle User Group has no liability to you for personal injury or death arising from the services that the organising Bicycle User Group provides to you; and

to indemnify organising Bicycle User Group against any claim, loss, damage, liability, cost and expense that may be incurred or sustained by the organising Bicycle User Group in connection with any act, matter or thing done, permitted or omitted to be done by you or which was in any way connected with your involvement in the cycling activities.
An approved Australian Standards helmet is required to be worn on all rides. No helmet, no ride. No exceptions. Please ensure your bike is in good working order and bring a spare tube, a pump, tyre levers, a full water bottle and any other tools you may require. It is also recommended you bring money for food and/or fares and your mobile phone.

Children – these rides are not a child minding service. Every rider under the age of 18 must be under the direct supervision of a parent/guardian. The parent/guardian must watch and control their children for the duration of the ride. The parent/guardian agrees to take full and sole responsibility for their children’s safety. Please contact the Ride Leader in advance to discuss the suitability of a ride for your children.
