Description

9:00am Meet at Rotary Park (Historic Log Tobacco Kiln) Great Alpine rd Myrtleford.

We start by crossing the creek onto the 'Mosaic Trail' which meanders through bushland and over the Ovens river on the south side of town.  Onto Lewis ave and joining the Rail Trail  at Albert st. Ride the rail trail to Bright.

Lunch: A free BBQ will be available at Howitt Park - in the middle of Bright. Relax, visit the art gallery or Bright Brewery then regroup and ride back to Myrtleford. On our return will stay on the rail trail through Myrtleford with the path going under the Great Alpine rd just near Rotary Park.

The rail trail is sealed with a very gentle uphill grade all the way to Bright (and a slightly down hill return trip). It runs along the valley floor with a great rural scenery. The trail crosses the Great Alpine Rd a few times passing some old train stations and around Porepunka which is 6 km from Bright. The trail ends for us at the old Bright train station which is very close to the main Street and shops.

Carry a water bottle and spare tube as usual and a small snack in case you need to boost your energy levels on the return journey.
