Description
We travel along the Pacific Highway to Pie in the Sky after which the bulk of our descending and climbing begins.
The descents and climbs of both sides of Mooney Mooney are along quiet isolated roads. However, care needs to be taken as the roads can be quite slippery and there can be significant amount of debris.
There are no bail out points after Cowan station and one needs to make sure that their bikes and bodies are sound lest you risk a very expensive taxi ride home.
The final climb of Brooklyn and the return along the highway can be challenging as traffic is often heavier and the legs wearier.
Notes: A great opportunity for people wanting to extend their endurance. Ride at your own pace; we will have frequent re-groups to accommodate different speeds. Our special start at BEROWRA STATION reduces the length to 80kms. It’s fairly challenging riding through gorgeous bushland. There are four glorious descents and FOUR BIG CLIMBS (about 1300 metres of climbing). We go beyond Calga, down over beautiful Mooney Mooney Creek and up the other side, to the Australian Reptile Park near Somersby. Then we turn around and enjoy it all again on the way back. Take-away coffee breaks at Saddles on the way out and at Pie in the Sky on the way back. I strongly recommend bringing two water bottles, especially if it is hot.We will start riding with 5 mins relatively easy warm-up.
